Why did we create the Inception 5?
Because you asked us to!
Following the launch of our original Élan & Core SuperLight models in 2021, we surveyed our customers to ask what they thought was missing from the Scribe Range, and the feedback was clear. The Scribe Collective wanted a fast, affordable wheelset that was hand-built to last, equipped with wide rim profiles to accommodate modern tire volumes, and robust enough to withstand recreational rides, harsh winter training miles or even light gravel terrain.
Essentially, a 'do-it-all' wheelset.
That's the Inception 5.
What did we do about it?
We delivered.
Twelve months later, we delivered. We built a wheelset that has since won elite road races, podiumed in UCI gravel events and ridden at world championship level. Designed as a performance upgrade at an entry level price point.
The Specification
The perfect balance.
Every iteration since has struck the perfect balance between race-day performance and lasting longevity. You won't find a more competitive package anywhere else on the market.
Rims
Engineered around an extra-wide 24mm internal rim profile, its T700 / T800 carbon rim maximises tire volume so (i) the design instantly improves rolling resistance, (ii) increases traction, (iii) utilizes a wider external profile for superior aerodynamics.
Hubs
Equipped with a hub design that has 3 degrees of pure responsive bliss, the 2x 3-pawl design gives riders super-fast engagement, but that is not all. When you coast, you get that premium buzz as the system finds the next engagement set when the power goes.
Spokes / Nipples
Utilising high-grade Italian butted stainless steel spokes (currently 24 Alpina Extralites), laced with brass nipples, as they do not corrode.

Does 'Entry-Level' pricing mean 'Entry-Level' Performance?
Absolutely NOT. The Inception 5 draws on aerodynamic profiles developed from our performance models, bringing proven design principles to a more affordable wheelset. It’s an accessible introduction to Scribe that allows plenty of scope to grow with your riding.
Are they suited for racing, winter training, or everyday use?
The Inception 5 can cover ALL THE ABOVE. Its wider internal profile provides support for modern, wider tires, so you can tailor your setup towards road speed, everyday comfort, or extra grip for light gravel riding.
*Always check tire and frame compatibility, including clearance: a tire’s fitted width can differ from the size printed on its sidewall.
